Basketball Recap: Erie-Prophetstown Takes a Loss

Erie-Prophetstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 43-23 to the Mercer County Golden Eagles. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 50-47 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mercer County found their leader in freshman Shadia Williams, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 19 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for Williams. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Collison, who posted seven points along with eight boards and three steals.

Erie-Prophetstown's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Mercer County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.

Erie-Prophetstown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 32-30 win against Fulton on the 30th. As for Mercer County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-49 victory against Kewanee on the 30th.
