Basketball Preview: Lassiter Trojans vs. Alpharetta Raiders
The Lassiter Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alpharetta Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Lassiter has not done well against the Yellow Jackets recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lassiter snuck past the Yellow Jackets with a 64-58 victory. That's two games straight that Lassiter has won by exactly six points.
Lassiter had a senior duo take command as Aidyn Davis scored 21 points along with two blocks and Kyhir Torrence scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jay Chege was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Alpharetta strolled past the Gladiators with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 60-42.
Lassiter's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Alpharetta, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.
Lassiter was able to grind out a solid victory over the Raiders when the teams last played back in January, winning 63-50. Will Lassiter repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
