Softball Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Marcos de Niza Padres

The Mesquite Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Marcos de Niza Padres at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Mesquite has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mesquite came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-4 to Cactus Shadows.

Olivia Romans made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Marcos de Niza came up short against Arcadia on Wednesday, falling 13-2.

Marcos de Niza saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leila Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Mesquite has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Marcos de Niza, they dropped their record down to 11-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mesquite has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Marcos de Niza struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
