Basketball Recap: Everett Takes a Loss

Everett and North Star squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Everett had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 54-36 to the North Star Cougars. The Warriors have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

It was another big night for Andy Retassie, who posted 25 points along with five rebounds and five steals for North Star. Retassie's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Ethan Smith was another key player, putting up 13 points and six boards.

Everett's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for North Star, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Everett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Star, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars face off against the Lions at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chestnut Ridge comes in on seven and North Star on three.
