Baseball Game Preview: Essex Trojans vs. Northumberland Indians

For the second straight game, Essex will face off against Northumberland. The Trojans will challenge the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Essex is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Essex is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Northumberland on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 4-2. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Essex saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyran Howard, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Northumberland's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Essex, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
