Baseball Recap: Stanton County Trojans vs. Lakin Broncs
Stanton County extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-5 in the process. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakin Broncs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Monday.
Marvin Munoz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
As for Lakin, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Lakin's side, Dru Patterson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Patterson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Adrik Gomez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
Stanton County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Ulysses on the 1st. As for Lakin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-3 victory against Hugoton on the 1st.
