Softball Game Preview: Middletown Middie Bears vs. Corning-Painted Post Hawks

The Middletown Middie Bears will take on the Corning-Painted Post Hawks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Middletown needed a bit of extra time to put away Pine Bush. They had just enough and edged out the Bushmen 3-2. Surprisingly, this marked the Middie Bears' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Bethannie French spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Alissandra Soto was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Corning-Painted Post walked away with it. They never let the Express get on the board and left with a 4-0 win on Sunday. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Corning-Painted Post pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Middletown, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
