Basketball Recap: Astronaut Comes Up Short

Astronaut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Cocoa Tigers and fell 64-7. While losing is never fun, the War Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 649th, while the Tigers are ranked 138th).

Cocoa found their leader in sophomore Gianna Conklin-Jones, who went 8 for 10 en route to 17 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds. Conklin-Jones also set a new season-high mark in field goal percentage with 80%. Ty Blackmon was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten steals.

Astronaut's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Cocoa, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Astronaut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cocoa, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-30 win against Space Coast on the 6th.
