Preview: Grace Christian Academy EAGLES vs. Konos Academy
Grace Christian Academy has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against Konos Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Georgia Force Christian scored an imposing 74 points on Monday, Grace Christian Academy still came out on top. Grace Christian Academy escaped with a win against Georgia Force Christian by the margin of a single free throw, 75-74. Given Grace Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Georgia Force Christian is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Konos Academy entered their tilt with Hearts Academy with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Konos Academy took their match on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 73-36 victory over Hearts Academy. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-11.
Preston Thornton and Samuel Brezina were among the main playmakers for Konos Academy as the former scored 21 points and the latter dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Thornton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joshua Knapp, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Grace Christian Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Konos Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Grace Christian Academy beat Konos Academy 59-46 when the teams last played back in November.
