Basketball Game Preview: Philip Scotties vs. Edgemont Moguls

Philip is 4-0 against Edgemont since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Philip Scotties will face off against the Edgemont Moguls at 5:00 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.

Edgemont is hoping to do what Sully Buttes couldn't on Monday: put an end to Philip's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Philip was the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over Sully Buttes.

Philip can attribute much of their success to Drew Terkildsen, who posted 16 points in addition to seven assists and five boards, and Josie Jones, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Jones has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Fayth Martin, who put up eight points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Philip smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Edgemont put another one in the bag last Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Banner County 47-18. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-8.

Edgemont's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Philip, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Philip against Edgemont in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 56-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Philip since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
