Baseball Recap: Princeton Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Princeton and Lakota West squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Princeton had to settle for second. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-1 to the Firebirds, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Firebirds this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-1 loss on Thursday.

This is the second loss in a row for Princeton and nudges their season record down to 19-11. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Lakota West, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

Princeton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakota West, they will square off against Olentangy Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Firebirds surely won't give up without a fight.
