Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Panthers vs. Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns

Liberty is 0-10 against Hamshire-Fannett since December of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Liberty Panthers will take on the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at 6:00 p.m.

Liberty is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-44 heartbreaker at the hands of Tarkington. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1059th, while the Longhorns are ranked 352nd).

Meanwhile, Hamshire-Fannett sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 victory over Tarkington on Friday.

Hamshire-Fannett's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.

Liberty was dealt a bruising 102-60 defeat at the hands of Hamshire-Fannett when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
