Softball Recap: Uwharrie Charter Academy Comes Up Short

Randleman hit Uwharrie Charter Academy with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell 8-5 to the Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in March.

Katelyn West was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. West was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carly Rush made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bristol Marine, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Randleman, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Uwharrie Charter Academy will venture away from home to take on Providence Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Randleman, they will head out to challenge Southwestern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
