Basketball Recap: Ilana Bread's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Washington over Cortez

Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 52-41 to the Cortez Colts. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ilana Bread, who posted 13 points. Alicia Mendez was another key player, putting up ten points.

Cortez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gisselle Ojeda Vega, who earned 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailey Vasquez, who put up 15 points.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Cortez, their record now sits at 6-13.

Washington has already played their next match, a 37-34 win against Sierra Linda on the 7th. As for Cortez, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-32 defeat against Dysart on the 11th.
