Volleyball Recap: Vanguard Academy Comes Up Short

Vanguard Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Salt Lake Academy Griffins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Griffins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-10, 25-14.

Among those leading the charge was Jeisabe Gutierrez, who had ten digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted over her last five matches. Ammie Matos Lopez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Vanguard Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Salt Lake Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Vanguard Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Wasatch Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Salt Lake Academy will square off against rival Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
