Basketball Preview: Pilot Point Bearcats vs. Boyd Yellowjackets
The Pilot Point Bearcats will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Boyd Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, Pilot Point was the victim of a tough 75-49 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Pilot Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1009th, while the Panthers are ranked 359th).
After soaring to a 46-point victory in their last game, Boyd came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Paradise by a score of 43-41.
Trey Robinson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Lex Horton, who scored eight points.
Pilot Point's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Boyd, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-17 record this season.
Pilot Point came up short against the Yellowjackets when the teams last played back in January, falling 58-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Robinson, who scored 27 points. Now that Pilot Point knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
