It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but McKeel Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lakeland Christian Vikings, sneaking past 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Tristan Blomeley looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McKeel Academy's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carter Rouse, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5. Another was Jorge Cordova, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

McKeel Academy's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Lakeland Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season.

McKeel Academy will challenge Santa Fe Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will host Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Storm's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
