Softball Recap: Stone Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Stone was riding high fresh off their 12-0 takedown of Gautier last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tomcats fell 16-13 to the Gulfport Admirals on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (12), the Tomcats still had to take the loss.

Laila Bullen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Mattie Gibson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.

Stone's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Gulfport, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Stone will host East Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gulfport, they will head out to face off against Ocean Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Admirals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
