Softball Game Preview: Hudson's Bay Eagles vs. Columbia River Rapids

Hudson's Bay hasn't had much luck against Columbia River recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Rapids at 4:00 p.m. Hudson's Bay has given up an average of 21.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hudson's Bay is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Mark Morris, falling 28-0.

Meanwhile, Columbia River got themselves on the board against R.A. Long on Monday, but R.A. Long never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Lumberjacks. The matchup marked the Rapids' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Haylee Delano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Quinn Aubrey was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Brooklyn Vickery was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Columbia River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Columbia River back to even at 3-3. As for Hudson's Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
