Football Recap: Otay Ranch Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Otay Ranch had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-6 to make it six. They came up short against the Eastlake Titans, falling 35-10. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 14-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Andrew 'AJ' Lopez threw for 76 yards on nine of 18 attempts. Deinko Williams was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards. On the ground, Jaidon Castillo rushed for 51 yards and one TD.

As for Eastlake, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.53 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.3 in the others.

Tyler Balko had an outrageously good game as he threw for 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in August of 2024.

Coincidentally, Otay Ranch and Eastlake will both be playing Chula Vista the next time they take the field. The Titans will head out to face the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on the 31st.
