Baseball Recap: Hanover Central Falls Short Against Ranked Lincoln-Way Central

Hanover Central is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Lincoln-Way Central. The Wildcats fell just short of the Knights by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since June 3, 2024.

Anthony Rayski and Dylan Bowen did some serious damage despite the final result: Rayski went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Bowen went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That home run was Rayski's first of the season. Jaylen Rutherford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Hanover Central is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 19-7. As for Lincoln-Way Central, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-10.

Looking ahead, Hanover Central will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lake Central at 4:30 p.m. As for Lincoln-Way Central, they will face off against Thornton Fractional South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
