Baseball Game Preview: Kilgore Bulldogs vs. Chapel Hill Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Kilgore will face off against Chapel Hill. We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kilgore has four straight victories, Chapel Hill has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Kilgore made easy work of Chapel Hill and carried off an 11-2 win.

Cason Edney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Salvador Cervantes and Miles Applegate did most of the damage at the plate: Cervantes scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Applegate scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Applegate a new career-high. Kaeson Clayton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Kilgore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.6.

Chapel Hill's loss dropped their record down to 4-17-1. As for Kilgore, their record now sits at 9-12-1.
