Basketball Game Preview: Peck Pirates vs. Dryden Cardinals

Peck is 0-10 against Dryden since December of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Peck Pirates will face off against the Dryden Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Dryden heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Peck took over last week. Peck came out on top against Mayville by a score of 38-29 on Sunday.

It was another big night for Thomas West, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Peck's points. Another player making a difference was Aiden Alfaro, who posted eight points and three blocks.

Peck smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Dryden strolled past Webberville with points to spare back in December of 2024, taking the game 65-47. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while the Spartans are ranked 132nd).

Peck's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-6. As for Dryden, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Peck might still be hurting after the 60-36 defeat they got from Dryden in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Peck avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
