Baseball Recap: Fairfield Prep Continues Home Dominance on Monday

It's playoff time, and Fairfield Prep had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over the West Haven Blue Devils on Monday. The Jesuits haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Andrew Wong, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep West Haven off the board. Wong has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fairfield Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vinny Lombardo, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Evan Scheffler also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Fairfield Prep's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for West Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Looking ahead, Fairfield Prep will face off against South Windsor on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Jesuits 3.9, the Bobcats 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. West Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
