Baseball Recap: Westbrook Takes a Loss

Westbrook extended their losing streak to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They came up short against the Massabesic Mustangs, falling 10-0. If the Blue Blazes were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Massabesic, their record now sits at 6-8-1. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Massabesic's part, Brady Batson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Batson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Bryan, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Massabesic is undefeated when Bryan posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-8-1 otherwise. Cassius Hogan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westbrook will host Scarborough at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Massabesic, they will welcome Portland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.07 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
