Football Game Preview: Calumet New Tech Warriors vs. Mishawaka Marian Knights

Two dominant backs in Bryce Brandon and Vinny Gruber are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Calumet New Tech Warriors will challenge the Mishawaka Marian Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Calumet New Tech is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Glenn with points to spare, taking the game 42-23. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mishawaka Marian). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat River Forest 56-14. With the Knights ahead 35-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

A big part of Mishawaka Marian's win came down to the chemistry between Mitchell Fimbel and his top target Terrance Lane Jr. Fimbel rushed for 38 yards and one TD while Lane Jr rushed for 112 yards and one score on only seven carries. What's more, Fimbel posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Joseph Florkowski got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mishawaka Marian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gage Mccue, CJ Weston, and Florkowski picked up one apiece. Florkowski got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Calumet New Tech's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Mishawaka Marian, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-7.

Calumet New Tech was taken down by Mishawaka Marian 45-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
