Basketball Recap: Greater Atlanta Christian Skates Past Johnson with Ease

Greater Atlanta Christian won the last time they faced Johnson and things went their way on Friday too. The Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Johnson Knights 65-7. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Knights are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greater Atlanta Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyssa Austin-Perry, who posted 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Austin-Perry a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cobi Obi, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Greater Atlanta Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points over those games. As for Johnson, they are on a 40-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.

Looking ahead, Greater Atlanta Christian will challenge Dawson County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greater Atlanta Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. Johnson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
