Volleyball Recap: St. Petersburg Has No Trouble Against Boca Ciega + How To Watch

St. Petersburg barely beat Boca Ciega the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Green Devils put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. The Green Devils haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: St. Petersburg took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-6, 25-9.

St. Petersburg can attribute much of their success to Annika Xenakis, who had eight aces and seven digs. Those eight aces gave Xenakis a new career-high.

Xenakis wasn't the only good servers: St. Petersburg was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matches.

St. Petersburg's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Boca Ciega, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-12.

Coming up, St. Petersburg will face off against Indian Rocks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boca Ciega, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Tarpon Springs on the 29th.
