Football Game Preview: Shasta Wolves vs. Chico Panthers + How To Watch

The Shasta Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Chico Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shasta has given up an average of 34.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Shasta is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-28 heartbreaker at the hands of Enterprise.

Shasta might have lost, but man, Deven Ortega was a machine: he rushed for 161 yards and two scores while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Ortega has become a key player for the Wolves: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Chico and Pleasant Valley have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Panthers took a 16-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Chico fell to 6-1. As for Shasta, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Shasta didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Chico in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
