Basketball Recap: Central of Coosa County Comes Up Short

Central of Coosa County was the 55-47 winner over Horseshoe Bend when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Central of Coosa County Cougars fell to the Horseshoe Bend Generals 47-42. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Central of Coosa County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Queen Ballard dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance also gave Ballard a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Destini Kelley, who posted 13 points.

Even though they lost, Central of Coosa County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Central of Coosa County now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Horseshoe Bend, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Central of Coosa County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ranburne at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
