Baseball Game Preview: Lane Tech Champions vs. Ogden International

The Lane Tech Champions are taking a road trip to take on Ogden International at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lane Tech will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Saturday, Lane Tech earned a 10-5 victory over York.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Trapp, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Alex Ziegler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lane Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ogden International started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Payton College Prep. They came up short against the Grizzlies on Friday, falling 7-1. Ogden International has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ogden International saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Osiah Vega, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Lane Tech has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Ogden International, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Everything went Lane Tech's way against Ogden International in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lane Tech made off with a 9-2 victory. Do the Champions have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ogden International turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
