Baseball Game Preview: IMG Academy Silver Ascenders vs. Sports Leadership & Management Spartans

The IMG Academy Silver Ascenders will square off against the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. IMG Academy Silver will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, IMG Academy Silver needed a bit of extra time to put away Central Pointe Christian Academy. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the CPCA, sneaking past 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Ascenders as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Chanwoo Park looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, IMG Academy Silver let Jonathan Marzullo and Will Zyblock run wild. Marzullo went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while Zyblock scored a run while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Zyblock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Antonio Chavez, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

IMG Academy Silver kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management suffered their biggest loss since February 18th on Saturday. They came up short against Key West, falling 17-7.

Alex Duncan was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Sports Leadership & Management's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-12. As for IMG Academy Silver, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
