Basketball Recap: Adams City Triumphs

Gateway came into Friday's match looking for another win against Adams City, but Jojo Martinez wouldn't allow it. The Adams City Eagles took down the Gateway Olympians 51-37 on Friday thanks in part to Martinez, who posted 14 points and five steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Rogelio Moncada, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Gateway lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ahmed Mohammed, who put up nine points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Famara Cherif, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Adams City's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Gateway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Adams City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-39 loss against Prairie View on the 17th. As for Gateway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-45 defeat against Northglenn on the 17th.
