Volleyball Recap: Herrin Tigers vs. DuQuoin Indians
Herrin lost against DuQuoin back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Herrin Tigers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the DuQuoin Indians. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost seven in a row.
While Herrin had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-19.
Herrin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Saylor Ray, who had five digs and two aces. What's more, Ray also racked up no blocks, the mostshe's had in her last three games. Kylie Wagoner-Smith was another key player, getting 13 digs.
Love Dunklin had a dynamite game for DuQuoin, getting 19 digs. Dunklin is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.
Herrin's defeat dropped their record down to 16-16. As for DuQuoin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Tigers challenges Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for DuQuoin, they will venture away from home to square off against Wesclin at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
