Baseball Game Preview: Washington Rams vs. Copper Canyon Aztecs

For the second straight game, Washington will face off against Copper Canyon. The Rams will welcome the Aztecs at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Washington has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Copper Canyon will come in with three straight victories.

For Copper Canyon's part, Gabriel Ruelas and Jesus Vega did most of the damage at the plate: Ruelas went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Vega scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Ruelas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Torres Felix, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Copper Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .559 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Copper Canyon's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Washington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Copper Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts.
