Basketball Recap: Thomas Sumter Academy's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Thomas Sumter Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the King's Academy Lions by a score of 33-21. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-28 last Thursday.

Thomas Sumter Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Malayia English out in front who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. That's the most steals English has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Anna Bell, who put up four points along with 11 boards and four blocks.

Thomas Sumter Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for King's Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Thomas Sumter Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 30-25 win against Lee Academy on the 17th. As for King's Academy, they will host Emmanuel Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
