Softball Recap: Union City Wins Going Away Against Youngsville

Union City came out on top against Youngsville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Bears blew past the Eagles 11-1. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Grace Chapman, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Tingley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Union City and bumps their season record up to 9-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Youngsville, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Union City will square off against Maplewood at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Youngsville, they will face off against Lakeview at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
