Basketball Recap: Thoreau Hawks vs. Robertson Cardinals
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Thoreau can now relate to. The game between the Thoreau Hawks and the Robertson Cardinals didn't end well, with the Thoreau Hawks falling 60-45. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Robertson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jesse James Gonzales out in front who went 10-for-17 to rack up 22 points. Gonzales continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nathan Gonzales was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Thoreau's loss dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Robertson, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 25-4.
Thoreau does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Robertson, they will square off against West Las Vegas at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Robertson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.7 points per game this season.
