Basketball Game Preview: Independence Wildcats vs. South Panola Tigers

The Independence Wildcats will face off against the South Panola Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Independence's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Independence is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Strayhorn, posting an 85-21 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when South Panola challenged DeSoto Central on Thursday. The Tigers had to suffer through a 68-33 loss at the hands of the Jaguars. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost six in a row.

Independence's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for South Panola, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Independence couldn't quite get it done against South Panola in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 as they fell 51-38. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
