Basketball Game Preview: Kinston Vikings vs. Tarboro Vikings

Kinston will venture away from home to take on Tarboro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kinston has seven straight victories, Tarboro has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Wednesday, Kinston beat J.H. Rose 50-39.

Kinston's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aleah Hill, who posted 19 points, and America Lloyd, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Hill's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariyona Willis, who scored three points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, Tarboro had to suffer through a 52-19 loss at the hands of Ayden - Grifton. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 541st, while the Chargers are ranked 266th).

Kinston's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Tarboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Everything came up roses for Kinston against Tarboro in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 96-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kinston since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
