Softball Recap: Sentinel's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Sentinel had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 8-8 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Big Sky Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Eagles two weeks ago, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

Alyssa Hanninen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Hanninen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Goldbar, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Layla Brushia, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

As for Big Sky, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.

On Big Sky's side, Sadie McGuinn was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Elise Regan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Sentinel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-4 victory against Butte on the 1st. As for Big Sky, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-2 win against Hellgate on the 1st.
