Football Game Preview: Eastern Ramblers vs. Coolidge Colts

The Eastern Ramblers will take on the Coolidge Colts at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Eastern 13.6, Coolidge 12.1) so any points scored will be well earned.

Eastern is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of District of Columbia's top teams: Dunbar, who was ranked eighth at the time (Eastern was ranked fifth). The Ramblers lost 42-21 to the Crimson Tide on Thursday. The Ramblers' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Eastern might have lost, but man, William Simmons was a machine: he rushed for 115 yards and two scores.

Meanwhile, Coolidge's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout last Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand Roosevelt a 9-0 shutout.

Coolidge found their leader in sophomore Jason Battle, who rushed for 110 yards and one TD.

Coolidge's run defense was locked in: Roosevelt could only muster 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Kesean Mason for the heroic effort on defense: he. Coolidge didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.2.

Eastern's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Coolidge, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
