Softball Game Preview: Sequatchie County Indians vs. Marion County Warriors

The Sequatchie County Indians will face off against the Marion County Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Monday, Sequatchie County made easy work of Bledsoe County and carried off a 10-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Marion County hadn't done well against Sequatchie County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Indians. Marion County's victory was all the more impressive since the Indians were averaging only 3.83 runs allowed on the season.

Hannah Adams was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyen Layne, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Marion County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.

Sequatchie County's win bumped their record up to 22-9. As for Marion County, their victory bumped their record up to 21-7.

Sequatchie County might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Marion County when the teams last played on Friday. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
