On Friday, Bunker Hill came up short against Newton-Conover and fell 7-2. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly five runs.

Kamden Bortz was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Bunker Hill is 3-1 when Bortz posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.
Meanwhile, West Iredell came into Thursday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Mooresville on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since April 29, 2024.
West Iredell also got a great performance from Michael Davis as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Damien Sharpe, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Xavierous Glaspy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Bunker Hill now has a losing record of 5-6. As for West Iredell, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
West Iredell's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Bunker Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West Iredell, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 strikeouts. Will Bunker Hill keep running through batters, or will West Iredell buck the trend?
