Leelynd Durbin Has Career-Day on Friday

Starting off the list is Flanagan/Woodland's Leelynd Durbin, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Durbin rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.

Flanagan/Woodland's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Durbin and Flanagan/Woodland will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Galva at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.

Austin Nelson Turns in Season-Best Effort

Austin Nelson produced his most outstanding game to date while leading West Prairie/Southeastern to the win on Friday. Nelson rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 112 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

If the past is any indication, Nelson could be in store for another big game when he takes on Peoria Heights on Friday. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Nelson saw Peoria Heights), he rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.

Seth Jones posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns.
