Softball Recap: Williamstown Takes a Loss

If Williamstown was riding high fresh off their 11-2 takedown of Valley on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellowjackets fell 15-10 to the Ripley Vikings on Saturday.

Alyssa Clare spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Kyla Myer and Shayle Montgomery stepped up to the plate in a big way. Myer went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Montgomery went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Elli Hanlon, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Williamstown has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Ripley, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.

Coincidentally, Williamstown and Ripley will both be playing Buffalo the next time they take the field. The Yellowjackets will host the Bison at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Vikings will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
