Baseball Recap: Mamou Takes a Loss

Mamou had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-6 to make it five. They came up short against the Glenmora Wildcats, falling 14-5. If the Demons were looking for revenge after losing 13-1 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Glenmora, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

For Glenmora's part, Cullyn Robbins and Logan Eaves made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Robbins didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Eaves struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At bat, Robbins got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Eaves went 1-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Glenmora got a massive performance out of Ryan Langston, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was Langston's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Gillispie, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mamou will head out to take on Pitkin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Glenmora, they will challenge Avoyelles Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
