Baseball Game Preview: Dobson Mustangs vs. Red Mountain Mountain Lions

For the second straight game, Dobson will face off against Red Mountain. Dobson will venture away from home to square off against Red Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dobson has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Red Mountain will arrive with seven straight wins.

Monday just wasn't the day for Dobson's offense. They lost 16-0 to Red Mountain on Monday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

For Red Mountain's part, Maddox Loria looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Loria has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Hagen Wright was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kale Thorson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Red Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dobson only posted an OBP of .125.

Red Mountain pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dobson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dobson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Red Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
