Basketball Recap: McDonough Takes a Loss

McDonough lost against Jones County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The McDonough Warhawks were dealt a 74-26 loss at the hands of the Jones County Greyhounds. The Warhawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-5.

When it comes to explaining why McDonough lost, don't look at Jadah Rembert. Despite the final result, she posted 19 points. That was a full 73.1% of McDonough's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Jones County to victory were Mya Anderson and Kamiyah Adams. Anderson went 10 of 16 on her way to 25 points and five steals, while Adams went 8 for 10 en route to 18 points and eight boards. The contest was Adams' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liberty Pennamon, who scored two points in addition to seven assists, six rebounds, and three blocks.

McDonough dropped their record down to 7-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Jones County, the win was the 21st in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDonough will welcome Locust Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McDonough is facing Locust Grove at the right time seeing as Locust Grove is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Jones County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Union Grove at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Jones County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
