Baseball Game Preview: Riverside Warriors vs. Charleston Catholic Irish

The Riverside Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Charleston Catholic Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Riverside has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Charleston Catholic will arrive with eight straight victories.

Riverside lost 12-2 to St. Albans on Tuesday.

Riverside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron George, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that George has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Charleston Catholic faced Scott in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Irish beat the Skyhawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2.

Charleston Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Riverside might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Charleston Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
